About me
I'm Mykhailo Babkin. Software Engineer at AIR Media-Tech and Director of AI at Creativeo. Based in Toronto. I have shipped 5 production products that serve 3,800+ YouTube creators, and I advise CEOs on integrating AI into their businesses.
How I work
I don't write every line of code by hand. I research the problem, design the data flows and system architecture, then direct AI agents to execute. When the approach is wrong, I catch it and change course. Think of it like a film director: the director doesn't operate every camera, but the movie is still theirs.
This lets me move fast. A solo engineer working this way can cover ground that used to require a team. The tradeoff is you have to actually understand what you're building. Vague direction produces bad code.
What I've built
At AIR Media-Tech:
- Oxys — A 9-app YouTube creator toolkit. 25,000+ lines of code, 37 languages supported, used internally across the company.
- Video to Shorts — AI video clipping tool with an ML pipeline that identifies the best moments in long-form content.
- AI Audit — Automated YouTube channel analysis tool. Runs 12 findings per audit, no manual work required.
- AIR Translate — Multi-feature translation product built with the engineering team. 6 features shipped.
- MSN Metadata — Metadata optimization pipeline for MSN distribution.
At Creativeo:
- Advisory work with CEOs at million-dollar companies on building AI into their operations.
- AI workflow setup for small business owners who want to cut manual work without hiring more people.
Background
I started in tech at 15 at an IT summer camp, built a startup, and made cold calls to get our first users. From there: Instagram content and design, Upwork lead generation (13 clients at 16), QA testing, project management, and eventually software engineering. Over 5 years of experience, all of it hands-on.
I speak four languages: Ukrainian, Russian, English, and Norwegian. I am studying Computer Science at the University of the People, graduating in 2027. I believe in understanding fundamentals even when AI handles the implementation.
What I write about
AI-assisted development — the real version, not the hype. Product architecture decisions and the reasoning behind them. Building in public, including what goes wrong. Case studies from actual products I have shipped.
Work with me
If you run a business and want AI wired into your workflows, I do that. Not consulting decks. Actual systems, set up and working. Book a 45-minute call and we'll figure out if it's a fit.
